Personal wellbeing and life experience contributor

Colleen McAvoy grew up on a farm in rural New South Wales with a strong connection to nature and animals. Her biography in The Path To A New You describes a later move to Sydney for education and work, followed by administrative roles in a radiology practice, a hospital and government offices.

Her chapter, How To Be Happy In An Unhappy World, reflects on difficult experiences, including supporting her father at the end of his life. Colleen connects that personal history with a longstanding interest in people, wellbeing and the different practices she chose to study.

The contribution introduces the perspective behind her Healing Base work. Colleen discusses reflection, everyday routines and asking what can be done with the circumstances in front of a person. Some of the approaches she describes belong to her own spiritual or alternative-wellbeing outlook.

Colleen's account offers a view of how service roles, family experience and curiosity influenced her direction. It does not infer a clinical qualification from her administrative work or establish medical effects for the practices and products mentioned in the chapter.
