Karyn Bond

Author and personal resilience contributor

Karyn Bond contributes a personal account of childhood and later relationships to The Lightbulb Moment. She grew up on a dairy farm, where work with animals and the demands of the property shaped everyday family life.

In Heal And Thrive, Karyn reflects on wanting approval and finding it difficult to recognize her own achievements. She describes the importance that writing, friendship and other forms of expression held during periods when she did not feel able to communicate freely.

Her chapter connects those early experiences with patterns she recognized later in life. Self-compassion, creativity and the possibility of a different understanding of personal worth are central to the perspective she offers.

Karyn writes from lived experience. Her contribution is concerned with helping readers feel recognized when relationships have left them uncertain of their value. It should be read as her account, without using a chapter or a brief biography to diagnose another person or assign responsibility for harmful behaviour to someone who experienced it.
